Castles along the Rhine

On November 23, we cruised the middle Rhine.  The river flows through a gorge that has many castles up on the hills.  We were really lucky to have good weather, especially considering it was November, and fog and rain are more the norm at that time of year.

I can't remember any of the details of which castle is which, but here is a map that roughly shows where we were, we were travelling from south to north, and ended at Koblenz.

Very breathtaking landscape, with such history.  Many of my ancestors sailed down the Rhine in the 1700s in two waves of emigration, I hope they had a chance to enjoy the view, and it's pretty neat to think that they would have seen the same castles we did, but travelling in way less luxury.
