Little Island at Pier 55, NYC

Well, hello there!  Long time no travel, during the unexpected Covid lockdown interlude.

Once the borders finally re-opened, our first real trip (we did a quick Syracuse shopping trip in Dec 2021) was to New York City to see family, in June 2022.

On June 7 we visited Little Island at Pier 55, a park that was constructed where a pier damaged by Hurricane Sandy in 2012 used to be.  This new park opened in 2021, and is in the Hudson River.

The park is constructed on these concrete pilings referred to as "tulips":



A walkway takes you onto the island:


Once you are on the island, it feels like you are on natural land, the landscape architects did a very good job:
