Heidelberg

On November 22, 2019 we awoke on our Viking cruise, docked along the Rhine.  After breakfast, we got on buses and travelled inland to the college city of Heidelberg.

First we did a tour of the castle ruins, just the exterior.  These next few are of the green moat, it was never water-filled.

View of the town from the castle:

More of the castle courtyard:

We did get to go inside to view two large wine (I think it was wine?) barrels, this is the smaller of them:

We were then set loose to do some walking in the town.  We went to see a church that the guide recommended we go in, here is the interior:

Streets in Heidelberg:

Ed and I took a walk over the bridge to do a little part of the Philosopher's walk, one of the most famous walks in the world.

Views from the bridge:

Here we are, headed up Philosopher's walk, with very limited time:

We didn't get high enough for any amazing views, and the weather was a bit hazy anyway.  Here is a picture of the bridge though that we got as we dashed back to catch our bus:

Next up, a bit of cruising on the Rhine.
