More Budapest

On Monday Nov. 21, we went on a bus excursion to tour some of the Pest side by bus, and then part of Buda hill on foot.

This is one of the few photos I will post from the bus, it's of Heroes square:

We then drove across the Danube to tour parts of the old town of Buda:

The Square beside St. Matthias Church:

Some photos of the inside and outside of the church:

I like how this figure below is standing on a head, but I don't know the story behind it:

Another square in front of the church:

Streets of Buda:

An old tower that remains from a ruined church:

View to the west from Buda Hill:

I had to look up this bird, I think it is a hooded crow, we saw them all over the place in Budapest:

Houses along the walkway on the western edge of the old town:

On the bus ride back to the ship, we went past the Hungarian Parliament building:

The bridge we drove over on our way back, looking back towards Buda:

After lunch, we did an excursion to the Széchenyi Thermal Baths.  The weather had improved so we got a better look at Heroes Square from the bus:

This is a children's circus-themed amusement park from the communist era, supposedly it will be torn down soon:

The Széchenyi baths:

The ceilings of the lobby.  I didn't take any other interior photos:

Here is a screencapture from Google maps on what it looks like.  The inside is a confusing labyrinth of change rooms and baths, and the rooms with the baths are hard to navigate too (once we finally found them), we were very lost while inside and probably didn't see most of the baths rooms, although we did try a few.  We spent most of our time outside, the half-moon pool on the left is at 38C, which was too hot for us to stay in for very long, so we spent much of our time in the 34C pool on the right (the centre pool is for lap swimming.).  The middle of the 34C pool has a "wave" feature where jets spin you around in a counterclockwise circle, very fun:
