December flowers

These were blooming near the trailhead at Temescal canyon.  There were some wildflowers/naturalized flowers along the trail too, but I didn't get photos of most of those.

 

These purple ones were blooming both at trailhead and on the trail:

 

Initials carved into cactus crack me up... there are no dates on these but sometimes they go way back:

 

A red maple branch.  The leaves turn and then take their time about falling off, maybe because we don't get as much wind as back in Canada:
